Marvellous Measuring on P3/4 Maths Day

31st Jan 2019

This term our topic is World War Two, so today we learned a little more about rationing. We looked at the most common foods that were rationed and their portion sizes. We worked out weekly quantities for a family of four by weighing in groups.

We also compared objects to one kilogram and estimated how many of each object it would take to balance 1 kilogram. We weighed using the scales to find out the results.

Just for fun, we made carrot cookies using some of the ingredients from our rationed shopping list. We followed a recipe which would have been used during World War Two.

We pretended we were children during World War Two. Our challenge for the week is to make 60g of sweets last for a whole week. This will be tricky but we are up for the challenge! Those who complete it will receive a certificate in assembly.
